Black & White Conservative?

Conservative...What does that mean?  I am learning the more I delve into politics, that there is no easy answer to that question. John McCain lost the election because he was a Rino.  Not the African big ass animal one but the Republican in name only.  So, does that mean we need to lean a little more to the right?

I like the Constitution and feel that it is not only our right, but our duty to adhere to it.  I think government should stay out of my life as much as possible and stop spending money we don't have.  Our country needs a balanced budget, so stop taking vacations and do something besides trying to take our rights away.

Freedom OF Religion - yep, that's a winner and just to make it clear, it's not Freedom FROM Religion....big difference there!!

Gun Control - It is the 2nd Amendment and our RIGHT!!  It's not only to keep us safe but also to protect us from a tyrannical government.  You know, like Hitler?  Yeah, we don't want that happening to us!

Now comes the tricky part.... the dreaded social issues.  This is where we tend to fall apart!  We seem to think that the only view that can be called "Conservative" is our own.  Abortion. Gay marriage. Illegal immigration. These are not black and white issues and the more we try and make them so, the more people are divided.   Take gay marriage for instance, I think most people, although they may not agree with it, feel that they should have the same rights as heterosexuals have.  I have issues with the term gay marriage because I feel that marriage is between a man and a woman.  So why not use the term civil unions for everyone and leave government out of religion?

Somehow we need to stay true to our values and ideals and still manage to change the face of the Republican party.  It already has the media on it's side along with the lazy that think they deserve something for nothing.  Add to that the uneducated that can't be bothered to actually look up what a candidate stands for and the odds are already stacked against you.  I mean honestly, if we can't win against  Obama, who has already run this country into the ground, I'm honestly not sure that there is hope for the future.

I've laid out my views on issues on many different posts, so I am not going to go into that now but we need to stop striking down our own team.
